The Boardmanship Institute, established in 1982, offers a year-round training calendar to help board members develop skills and stay abreast of state and national education issues.
Workshops focus on school law, school finance, legislation, improving board operations, leadership for improving student achievement, and other timely topics. SCSBA's annual convention is part of the Institute.
New Board Orientation is the only state-mandated training.
Board members earn points for participating in statewide conferences and in training provided onsite in their district.
The Boardmanship Institute's six levels of recognition are based on points accrued annually from January through December. SCSBA also keeps records on hours of training provided through the Boardmanship Institute.
